According to his obituary on the Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service website, Carr served in the Marine Corps for 8.5 years and then in the Army, having earned multiple awards and working as a martial arts instructor within the Marines.
A father of two, Carr volunteered as a basketball coach in the area, at the military youth center and at the YMCA, his obituary continues.
Tributes on social media suggest Carr's death was unexpected.
In addition two his son and daughter, Landon and Madison, Carr is survived by his wife of 17 years, Devin; father, Kenneth Carr Sr.; mother, Vivian Hosey Sanson; brother, Brandon Hosey; and three sisters, Erica Hosey, Jessica Carr Galloway, and Cherokee Carr.
Services were held Sunday, July 7 with interment Saturday, July 13 at the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
